School is almost out!! We have a few weeks left and the kids are itching to be out for the summer! Check out some great opportunities for children of all ages to have one of a kind summer experiences!
We will fly to the states mid July but I’d like to find some fun activities for Little G to be involved in for the few weeks before we leave. This is the first year that I’ve looked into summer camps for Little G. I’ve done some research and here is what I’ve found. There are some really interesting opportunities for children of all ages. Since Little G is bilingual I didn’t give much thought to what language the camps are offered in. For your convenience I split them into two groups: camps offered in English and camps in Italian. The English language camps are conducted in English and usually offer English language lessons during the camp so this could be a great choice for an English language learner or an English mother tongue. The camps in Italian may not be the right choice for children without some knowledge of the Italian language however I would suggest contacting the camp directly to see if they foresee issues with a language learner. It would be a great way for a child to immerse themselves in the language they are learning.
English Language Summer Camps
Little Star-For the really little ones, I recommend Little G’s daycare, Little Star. It’s located on Via Cassia Antica between Piazza Giochi Delfici and the junction with the Cassia Nuova. It’s a quaint little two story yellow villa that offers daycare, preschool and kindergarten in English and is a recognized school by the Italian government. They offer all day summer camps in English during the months of June and July.
Gymboree- offers English language summer camps for children ages 3-13 at various locations around Rome; Fleming Home, Teatro Parioli e Pianeta Minori.
Fleming Home –The Family Club, is a beautiful country club with its own restaurant, garden and swimming pool.
Camps are offered for children ages 3 to 6 from June 27th-July 29th and for children ages 6 to 9 from June 9th-July 29th. Activities including swimming, arts & crafts, theater, music and cooking. Activities for children ages 3 to 6 are on a soft-play floor.
English Tennis Camp– also offered by Fleming Home for children ages 6 to 12 from June 13th-July 29th. Daily 1.5 hr tennis lessons with Tennis Club Parioli, swimming, creative arts and more. All activities are led in English except Tennis and technology.

Teatro Parioli Peppino De Filippo – English Theater Summer Camp for children ages 6 to 11 and is offered June 13th till July 8th and from August 29th to September 9th. A fun insight into theater with six one-week full immersion English through improvisation, group interaction, scene and costume making and play writing. A short performance at the end of each week will conclude the camp. The camp will be conducted in English with translations where necessary.

Pianeta Minori – An English summer camp in the center of Rome for children ages 3 to 9 from June 9th to June 24th and September 5th to September 9th. A wide variety of fun and interactive activities which include arts & crafts, games, music and lots more! Marymount International School
Weekly summer camp for children ages 4-12 from June 20th to July 8th at ani international school Pre-K through 12th grade located just off the Cassia. The month long summer camp offers daily English language lessons by a certified EAL instructor, swimming, art, music and drama and Fab Lab/tinker classes in their new Fab Lab facility. Camp is ideal for those that are learning English and Mother tongue students alike. Cost per week is 300 euro with a discount for siblings or registration for 2 or more weeks.
Un campo estivo per bambini da 4 a 12 anni dal 20 Giugno al 8 Luglio. Ogni giorno ci sono lezioni di Inglese gestita da un insegnante ELL di Marymount, nuoto, arte, musica, drama e lezioni nel Fab Lab. Le Fate Turchine
This daycare/nursery school has always attracted my attention. I was not aware of it when I was researching a nursery school for Giulia in 2013. The structure is beautiful, they offer a wide variety of activities both during the school day and after school too. It is located in a tranquil natural environment right next to the artificial lake on Via Fornaci di Tor di Quinto.
Summer camp at Fate Turchina is another great option to include even the littlest members of our family. Summer camp is offered for children ages 1-11 from the 4th of July to the 5th of August. Activities vary based on the age of the child. Activities include water play, artistic activities, dress up, treasure hunts and sensory play. Snacks and lunch are provided and are prepared in house. Camp hours are from 8:30 to 17:00. There is a 30 euro registration fee that covers the cost of insurance and a pool kit: bag, towel and swim cap. Weekly cost to attend the camp is 140 euro with discounts for siblings or registration for two or more weeks.

Nettuno Club Saxa Rubra
A non stop sports summer camp from June 6th to September 9th. Nettuno Club is a sporting club in Saxa Rubra. Little G takes swimming lessons there twice a week. The instructors are wonderful and as she has always been the smallest in the course they do a great job to make sure the kids have fun while learning to swim. During the camp they offer an hour of tennis and swim lessons every morning then lunch and group games and a variety of other sports including soccer, basketball, athletic training volleyball and ping pong in the afternoon. Summer camp hours are 8:00 to 16:30 daily. Lunch and an afternoon snack are provided. Weekly camp costs 130 a week and discounts are offered for siblings, if you are already a member of the club or if you register for two or more weeks. Un campo estivo settimanale dal 6 giugno al 9 settembre pieno di attività fisica. Nettuno Club e un club sportivo a Saxa Rubra. Little G fa lezioni di nuoto li due volte a settimana da due anni ormai. Gli istruttori sono molto bravi e fanno divertire i bambini mentre gli insegnano a nuotare. Durante il campo estivo ci sono un ora di lezioni di tennis e nuoto ogni mattina poi una pausa pranzo e dopo fanno altri attività sportivo come basket, volley, atletica, pingpong e calcetto nel pomeriggio. Il campo estiva va dalle 8 alle 16:30 ogni giorno. Pranzo e una merenda pomeridiana sono inclusi. Il campo estivo costa 130 euro a settimana con degli sconti se si iscrive per almeno due settimane ed anche per fratelli e iscritti ai corsi del Nettuno Club Saxa Rubra. Fashion Camp at Atelier Piccoli
Interested in Fashion? Love to draw and sketch outfits? The highly anticipated second edition of Creative Fashion Design and Sewing for children ages 6 to 17 located in Testaccio at Atelier Piccoli. Week long courses run from the 13th of June till the 22nd of July and the 29th of August till the 9th of September. Cost per week is 160 euros.

Artisti in Erba
Dall’ 6 GIUGNO fino al 9 SETTEMBRE si terrà la quarta edizione del campus ludico-formativo Artisti in erba, promosso da smART – polo per l’arte, per avvicinare i bambini all’arte attraverso il gioco, sviluppando la loro creatività, sia nel lavoro individuale che di gruppo. Per bambini dai 6 ai 12 anni a Roma in quartiere Trieste. Al termine di ogni settimana è prevista una mostra dei lavori realizzati dai bambini. Quota di participazione 150 euro per la settimana full time. C’è anche la possibilità di frequentare solo la mattina o il pomeriggio per un costo minore. The fourth edition of the summer camp Artisti in Erba promoted by smART to introduce children to art through play and develop their creativity both in individual and group projects.
